Calm waters of Subic Bay
Central Luzon Region (Region III) Central Luzon region contains the largest plain of the Philippines, and produces most of the country's rice supply. That is why it is called the "Rice Bowl" or "Rice Granary" of the Philippines. Its provinces are: Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales. There are thirteen cities which include: Balanga in Bataan; Cabanatuan, Gapan, Muñoz, Palayan and San Jose in Nueva Ecija; Olongapo in Zambales; Angeles and San Fernando in Pampanga; San Jose del Monte, Meycauayan and Malolos in Bulacan; and Tarlac in Tarlac. The City of San Fernando, in Pampanga, is the regional center.

Main Tourist Attractions of the region: Beaches - the region is filled with beautiful beaches with crystal clear blue waters. In Aurora, local and foreign surfers gather to challenge big the waves during the surfing season from October to February. Shrine of Valor - found atop Mount Samat, this shrine immortalizes the valor of both American and Filipino troops in defense of the Philippines. Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes - an exact replica of the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in France. Frequented by the faithful especially during the Holy Week.
