This is where Filipino Revolutionary forces take their last stand. Bessang Pass - Here lies a monument commemorating General Yamashita's last ditch defense during the last stage of World War II. Santa Maria Church - found in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, this centuries-old monument is a World Heritage Site. Sulvec Watchtower - built in Sulvec by the Spaniards to serve as lookout point for pirates Moro Watchtower - found in San Esteban, this watchtower was built during the Spanish colonial era to serve also as lookout point for pirates Tagudin Sundial - Built in 1848, this is considered the first and oldest sundial in the Philippines. Salcedo Plaza - a plaza in Vigan built in honor of Don Juan de Salcedo, the founder of Vigan. Burgos Plaza - another plaza in Vigan built in honor of the Filipino martyr priest Father Jose P. Burgos. Lapog Bay - during World War II, Japanese Warships were anchored on this area and were bombed by US planes. Fallen Japanese soldiers were then found a few days after the bombing and were buried by the locals. Northern Luzon Heroes Hill National Park - was once a stronghold of Gabriela Silang, a Filipina who fought for the freedom of the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. Sulvec Beach - a favorite stopover for commuters and locals alike. Along the shore is Paraiso ni Juan with a grotto on top of the rock.
